Welcome to the Toronto meetup group for elasticsearch!
I used to work for the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, the national audiovisual archive of the Netherlands and one of the largest archives in Europe. The institute was one of the early adopters of elasticsearch and used it to power the archive's search engine: http://www.elasticsearch.org/case-study/sound-and-vision (if you have a Dutch background or if you are into Dutch cultural heritage, you might enjoy this site: http://in.beeldengeluid.nl ).
When I moved to Toronto I could not find an elasticsearch meetup group and decided to start one. I'm happy to share my experience with mappings, settings and bringing an elasticsearch cluster to production, and let the community take it forward. You all use elasticsearch, don't you?
Happy new year and best wishes for 2o19!
The first meetup of the year will be hosted by our friends at Instacart. Big thanks! Instacart will present its own use case with druid, kinesis and elasticsearch. In the second talk, Elastic will present and demo the latest features released in 6.5. Looking forwards to two great talks. See you all there.
6:30pm - doors open, networking
7:00pm - ElasticSearch Hero -- ES Visibility @ Scale
A brief primer on how Instacart uses ElasticSearch, and, how Instacart leverages Druid & Kinesis to instrument ElasticSearch at scale on the client side to debug multi-tenant performance issues and problematic queries and keep one of their most important data stores humming.
Speaker: Nick Elser serves as the Head of Engineering at Instacart North. Instacart is North America's leader in online groceries and one of the fastest growing companies in e-commerce.
