Elite Travel Club is an exclusive group for those who are interested in being part of an active, yet safe and, fun travel group. We are looking for members who are looking forward to making new friends and joining us in new adventures. Membership is by invitation or by application, interview and, acceptance only.
Each year we will target to take at least 8 trips, 1 trip being to an international destination. Trips will be a combination of road trips, weekend trips, camping trips, and beyond, to regional, national, and international destinations. On occasion, we will have social gatherings in Houston, so that members get to know their travel buddy community. Social gatherings will be a mix of free events and paid events.
To make this group a success and, to ensure that we only attract members who are serious about travel, the group has established a membership fee ($1/month). In addition, all members will be expected to participate in no less than 4 trips per year (note: this is a target, members are not penalized if they cannot).
Also, because we want members to feel safe with their new travel buddy community, all members will be required to submit to a background check (at their expense) prior to their first group travel each year.
WHY ELITE TRAVEL CLUB?
After being a member on MeetUp for years, I realized there was something missing from the experience I received and, so I decided to partner with a friend who shared the same vision for the MeetUp experience, and we implemented a new experience through Houston Professionals United (HPU).
In the early half of 2019, I took lead role in HPU, and grew it from 400 members to more than 2,000 members in less than 9 months. I then realized that while we were successful in maintaining an active group of regular members, who themselves had developed close bonds among each other, our events were best suited for members who enjoyed local engagements.
My own desire to have an established travel buddy group, who would actively explore the world with me, is what led me to launch Elite Travel Club. I am not a travel agent; I have genuine interest in a traveling as a group. I have taken the lessons learned from co-Leading HPU and my own experience on MeetUP and have very thoughtfully implemented a program for this group which I believe will make this group, not only the best travel group on MeetUp but one of the best groups to be a member of. *hugs*
Recently, I re-branded HPU as "Helping People Unite", to encompass our full network, inclusive of MeetUp groups: Houston Professionals United, Social Saturday's, Elite Travel Club and, our extended networks on MeetUp. View some of our past events, by connecting with HPU on Meetup, Facebook: fb.me/HelpingPeopleUnite and fb.me/HoustonsEliteTravelClub, or Instagram: HPUpanthers and Elit3_Travel_Club.
HOW MEMBERS BENEFIT 1. Safer travel community 2. Shared use of MeetUp platform (members can have their trips posted) 3. Strong social community through experienced host 4. Discount to some events. 5. HPU handles all the marketing so you can just show up!
By joining this group, members agree and accept the membership terms and conditions of Elite Travel Club documented in the membership agreement. Members will be required to sign a membership agreement, in writing, prior to attending the first trip.
Courtesy is of utmost importance. We ask that members uphold their RSVPs. Members who have 2 no shows to local social events or 1 no show for travel (cancelled outside of trip cancellation period without validated emergency), will be removed from the group.
Members whose background check do not meet our standards, will be refunded the membership fee. The refund will be pro-rated based on time of membership use, and less payment processing fees.
Our goal is to have a harmonious active travel group and so, members who present as problematic or do not align with the values of the group, may be removed, without refund of the membership fee, if there is deep concern. We will attempt to discuss concerns first, however, when it makes sense.
