Emacs Lisp: Cracking open compilation-mode

Details

We will continue our in-depth Elisp series with a look at the code implementing compilation-mode. This major mode activates when you run M-x compile and demonstrates a lot of interesting elisp features, including:

  • process filters and sentinels

  • timers

  • overlays

  • derived modes

Your host will give brief demos of each of these things and show how they are used inside compilation-mode and its derived modes, followed, as usual, by lots of discussion.

In addition we would love to have short talks on any elisp subject - let us know in the comments or at the beginning of the meeting.
