What we’re about

La Presa is a volunteer-run journal dedicated to building community through writing, in Spanish, English and French.  We publish online three times a year.  We invite writers from our three communities (Mexico, the US and Canada) to contribute their work.   Once an issue is published, we invite the community to a gathering, which consists of readings, mostly by local writers.  At the gathering (or Meetup) we get to know each other and share ideas in a convivial atmosphere.  Everyone interested is invited to participate.  Copies of the journal are given, as gifts, to the readers.

La Presa is a labor of love for us, as is our press, Embajadoras Press.  The press is devoted to helping writers publish their work.  At each launch, we will celebrate the new work.  So far, we have published one poetry collection and one memoir.

We, the organizers of these two entities, do not earn any money whatsoever from these activities and do not charge participants for our services.

We are committed to providing the community with a local resource to read and publish their work in all three languages; to find others who share their interests and ideas.  And it’s fun!
