Hi…. I’m Pete, I’m a Nordic and Fitness Walking Instructor, I instruct and walk with likeminded people, people who like me enjoy the great outdoors, nature and general good health and fitness. Nordic walking is unique in that you are walking with specially designed poles which can provide so many benefits for those who practice it correctly no matter what age. Nordic walking provides a low impact exercise but achieves high results for total body and mind fitness and in doing so can improve posture and general health, it uses all the major muscle groups in the body, you can use up to 40% more calories than with ordinary walking – 46% if you walk and talk within a group, so together with a good and balanced diet it is very effective as a means to weight loss. Nordic walking tones both the upper and lower body when you use the poles correctly as you are swinging your arms from the shoulders to a greater extent than with normal walking therefore working the upper body. Walking with poles also reduces pressure on ankles, knees and hips – a health benefit if you are troubled in these areas for any reason. Nordic walking combines exercise with the great outdoors which has been proven to be an excellent mood booster. Nordic walking was first developed as summer training for cross country skiers in Scandinavia and is now recognised as a regular pastime for many worldwide. I live in Enfield, North London and use many of the country areas around there to instruct on a group and one to one basis, I charge £4.00 per hour which involves a warm up to mobilise muscles and joints, instruction and the Nordic walk a warm down and post walk stretches. I can provide the Nordic walking poles for the hour if required at no extra cost. Why not give Nordic walking a go its more than just a walk in the park, I look forward to meeting up soon.
