Once upon a time, Bob and Pat DePree founded a software publishing company. They then managed it through seven years of one hundred percent plus annual growth, winning many industry awards and with products on the top ten lists for more than four years. With a large number of advanced projects on the table, they then cleverly decided to sell out to a billionaire in order to get needed expansion capital. Unknown to them, the billionaire turned out to be a crook who wanted to milk their very profitable company to help cover up his crimes. In this talk, Bob will run through some of the key lessons they learned on the high-tech startup roller coaster.

Robert DePree, ClearChase’s Director of R&D , has a thirty plus year track record of successful research and development. He has served on the faculty of the University of Florida, where he was the assistant director of a grant funded research institute. He was the chief architect on a large distributed office automation system for Harris Corporation. And he and Pat were co-founders of RightSoft, Inc., a highly successful software startup. Bob has spent his career working on innovative technologies using pattern recognition, image processing, computational linguistics, and machine intelligence.
