As of September 2017, over a thousand cryptocurrency specifications exist; most are similar to and derive from the first fully implemented decentralized cryptocurrency, bitcoin. Are cryptocurrency systems safe? Do they possess integrity and a ledger system that can be trusted? Who are “miners” and what is “cryptocurrency mining”? Are they and will they remain legal? Where do I store my cryptocurrencies?

Bitcoin is currently (April 2018) the largest blockchain network, followed by Ethereum, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and EOS with a total of 3500 and growing cryptocurrencies in existence. Which ones are most reliable/valuable? And why has bitcoin mining become so popular in Iceland that the country will likely use more electricity to mine coins than power homes in 2018?
