According to Stand Alone, 1 in 5 families in the UK are affected by estrangement and over 5 million people have decided to cut contact with at least one family member. Emotional abuse, neglect, controlling behavior and simply personality/belief conflict can all alienate a daughter from her parents.
This is a peer support group for adults (18+) who have been affected by breakdown in relationship with one or both parents, whether you stay in touch with them or not. It's a supportive place to share your feelings and be accepted, and to provide each other company during festive seasons. Everything remains confidential within the group and all cultural background are welcome.
I aim to organize coffee/dessert chat in central/north London in small groups (no more than 10) on weekends. Stand Alone is running such peer support in Manchester, so I thought I might start one in London. Suggestions are welcomed!
