What we're about
Ethereum is a distributed peer to peer computing framework. The framework consists of multiple components including a distributed peer to peer database, virtual machine, messaging protocol and file storage. Thereby providing a platform that spans the world and is accessible by anyone with security built-in into its cryptographic design.
Ethereum can also be deployed as a private distributed peer to peer computing framework among a specialized group of peers (e.g., consortium of banks).
The Ethereum Waterloo P2P is a hacker group where we aim to educate members about Ethereum, share experiences in the Platform and the types of application we are trying to build on top of it. We also have hands on group hackathons where we take some of the ideas shared in the group and try to start building them as a group. Our github page is: https://github.com/WaterlooEthereumClub
We are interested in having a diverse group of users including finance and law professionals as Ethereum provides new approaches to traditional problems in these fields.
Aside from the technical details of Ethereum, we will also discuss the social and economic impacts of the platform given the economic incentives built into its operations.
