Make Your Company Conflict-Competent Workshop featuring Tim Hicks
Bring two or more people together and conflicts will happen. Conflicts, differences, and disagreements are unavoidable parts of any relationship⏤particularly within companies. Conflicts, when not handled well, can be very disruptive and expensive to a business. When handled properly, they become an organizational asset that can be used to improve relationships and systems. This workshop will introduce you to the topic of conflict and conflict resolution. In it, we’ll explore the sources of conflict, how and why we respond to conflicts in the ways that we do. Tim will show you how to design and build effective conflict management systems in order to prevent conflicts. Then also providing effective strategies and methods for your management team to use when conflicts arise. The goal of this workshop is to make your organization more "conflict-friendly" and "conflict-competent." ⏤ Tim Hicks has worked in the conflict resolution field over the past 22 years, mediating of hundreds of cases, facilitation of group processes in the public and private sectors, as well as teaching and training. He spent nine years as the first director of the Master's degree program in Conflict and Dispute Resolution at the University of Oregon, teaching, and mentoring students while building the program to a position of national prominence. Prior to his work in conflict resolution, Tim co-founded and managed two successful businesses, one of which grew to 150+ employees. From these experiences, he has a first-hand understanding of workplace dynamics and stresses. These factors challenge management and supervision, often applying pressure that strain business partnerships. In addition to a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and 600+ hours of additional training over the years, he continues to read in and study the fields of conflict, negotiation, and conflict resolution with an abiding passion. What we're about

Calling all innovative and creative entrepreneurs who support startups in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon: join us for coffee and conversation as we network and collaborate on ideas to build and support new businesses. Many of us work in the tech/software industry in town, and we want to help build, connect and grow the local startup infrastructure. You don't have to be a tech startup to join, though.

We have a strong group of food-based startups, and several small businesses who are interested in networking and helping each other succeed.

This is not a leads group, so there is no need to feel compelled to come with business leads to share.
