Culturally Specific Assessment as a Means to Address Measurement Disjuncture
Details
Hi everyone.
David Sul of Sul & Associates International. from Sonoma County, California is doing a tour in the area and offered to share his expertise with us. My motto with Evaluation Cafe, is if you want to share something, we'll try to make it happen, so we have scheduled an event for this Saturday. We recognize that this is short notice, but hope that some of you will be able to attend.
David Sul is a psychometrician and evaluator who specializes in culturally specific assessment in support of indigenous cultural and linguistic revitalization initiatives. Sul is a proponent of the development of performance-based assessments using item response theory (IRT) from indigenous perspectives. His unique approach to critical measurement considers assessment development as a political act that can support indigenous autonomy and self-determination. Sul will describe his current research on the development of culturally specific assessments within indigenous communities in Ontario and Hawaiʻi.
After a presentation, there will be time for open discussion.
This is an additional event, so our CES-ON sponsorship does not cover providing snacks for this event.
