The Evanston 30s-40s Meetup group is focused on connecting people together who live in Evanston, as well as the surrounding areas like Skokie, Wilmette, Lincolnwood, or Rogers Park.  This group is also a good fit for people from areas a little further away who desire to spend time and meet others in this area of Chicagoland.

Most of the events are meant to provide people with opportunities to get together within 15 minutes of their homes.  So, Evanston and the closely surrounding areas will be where most events take place.  By keeping events more local, people can spend more time with others at events without taking too much time away from other areas of their lives. Events that are scheduled in other parts of the Chicago area can be opportunities for members to share experiences through mini-road trips or mini-public transportation adventures.

People in this group are in different circumstances in their lives.  So, this group is meant to be flexible in meeting the social interests of a diverse range of people.  For example, there can be events that focus on couples meeting other couples, singles meeting other singles, or people who are already in partnerships who are looking to make additional friendships outside their partnership.  There can also be general events where people in any life circumstances can mingle together.  Hopefully, people will find this group to be a non-stressful and respectful way to meet others who have a variety of relationship goals as they attend events.

If you want to do something and find others to do it with, you can be an event host.  For instance, if you want to see a show or concert, you can become a host and do some of the organizing to make that happen.  There are ways to be an event host that are more stressful or less stressful.  The organizer, Jeff B, has done a lot of stressful hosting and a lot of stress-free hosting.  He is a big believer in lower stress hosting.  So, you can ask him about strategies for hosting events.

How rewarding this group is to its members depends on peoples' willingness to show up at events when they are able.  It also depends on members' willingness to meet others, share a variety of experiences, and have conversations that tend to be less judging in nature.  AND, it will ultimately depend on people stepping up as event hosts to provide a variety of experiences to members.

Let's meet and get to know each other through some fun, shared experiences!
