Marty Gordon (he/him) is a Pacific Northwest visual artist whose brand, What Would Jesus Glue, grew out of his past life as a minister and his journey from faith to skepticism. Combining sharp wit with a retro comic-book aesthetic, he has carved out a distinct niche in contemporary collage. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and he is one of 40 artists featured in the book Masters: Collage. Through Microverse Press, the indie publishing venture he co-runs with a friend, Marty has produced collaborative artist books and self-published collections, including Sensitive Monsters, a compilation of his daily monster drawings created during a hiatus from collage. While living in Atlanta, he founded the Atlanta Collage Collective to champion collage as an art form and foster community among its practitioners. In recent years, Marty’s work has expanded into the street art world, with his pieces appearing in sticker festivals across the globe. When not making art, he enjoys reading, improv comedy, and spending time with his wife, family, friends, and godkids.

Maxx taught cat painting classes at a local cat cafe for 2+ years. She's lost count of the number of cats that she's painted over the years. If you've ever used the bathroom at Push/Pull, you've seen a few of the cat painting she has kept. Maxx loves cats and loves teaching people to paint them. Ink & Watercolor Illustration
Push/Pull, 2000 NW Market St, Seattle, WA, USThis is a paid class that requires registration. Sign up here.
Ink and watercolor: a match made in heaven!
We'll begin with markmaking techniques with waterproof ink, followed by a brief introduction to watercolor medium. Then, we'll choose references from life (or bring in your own reference image) to take what you've learned and render your own 8x10" illustration.
Students will walk away with a better understanding of ink, watercolor, and how those mediums play together--as well as all the skills you need to continue creating your own dynamic illustrations!
This class is a great follow-up to Maxx's Inking class or to any of Max M's watercolor classes, but no previous experience is required. This class is recommended for students 12 and up.
RJ Jordan (she/him) is a speculative author and artist telling stories about the natural world and exploring alien ones. She is a watercolor artist, illustrator, science writer, and experimenter. In her free time she draws bugs, cuddles her cat, gardens, and makes weird stuff. See more and connect @beccaquibbles.
