What we’re about
Welcome to Evolving Lingvo NYC!
This group is all about fostering connections through language, culture, and shared experiences. We celebrate multilingualism and cultural exchange, with a unique focus on Esperanto, the international language designed to bring people together.
Whether you’re fluent in multiple languages, just starting your language-learning journey, or curious about global cultures, there’s a place for you here. Join us for:
- Language exchanges for practicing and improving your skills.
- Cultural events exploring traditions from around the world.
- Workshops and activities to learn Esperanto and connect with NYC’s polyglot community.
Our goal is to build a welcoming and inclusive space where language enthusiasts can learn, grow, and evolve—together!

Beginner Esperanto Conversation Meetup
Qahwah House - Broadway, 2869 Broadway, New York, NY, USJoin us for an in-person Esperanto meetup at Qahwah House Broadway for conversation and a fun literary discussion!
This session is open to all levels—total beginners, casual learners, and fluent speakers alike.
☕ For beginners:
Practice greetings, introductions, and simple small talk in a relaxed, friendly space. No experience needed — we’ll help you start speaking right away!
📖 For intermediate and advanced speakers:
Our optional reading this week is “La mopso de lia onklo” (The Pug of His Uncle), a short humorous-gothic story by R. M. Chase, published in 1909 by the American Esperantist Company. It’s one of the earliest pieces of original Esperanto fiction written in the U.S.!
You can read it free on Vikifontaro:
We’ll chat about favorite parts, funny expressions, and how the author used early Esperanto style — no homework required, but reading ahead is encouraged if you’d like to join the discussion!
All are welcome — come to practice, learn, or just enjoy a cup of coffee and good company.
