Saturday Conversations

Details
TOPIC:
Creativity
Artists, philosophers, craftspeople, and in reality every human has creative potential. In fact, it could be said that humans have a rather unique creative capacity that cannot be found elsewhere in the animal kingdom nor engineered into machines. But this raises a lot of very interesting questions about both creativity and what it means to be human within the context of being a creative animal.
Questions:
-
What is creativity? What kinds of behaviors, or processes do we generally associate with creativity?
-
Is creativity rational or irrational?
-
Does creativity do best with or without a goal to reach for?
-
It is often taking for granted that creativity is a positive attribute, but in the light of the often troubled lives of incredibly creative people, is that necessarily the case? Are these problems caused by creativity, stem from a common cause from which creativity also flows, or are they merely related to the society we currently find ourselves in?
-
With that in mind, what does it mean to be a creative person?
-
What can we do to foster positive creativity in our daily lives?
Location and Price:
Upstairs there are many tables and chairs where people can gather and eat. If it's a nice day out, we may sit out on the covered balcony. As always there is a suggested, but by no means necessary, $2 donation which goes towards helping cover the costs of the meetup.
