A person’s facial appearance affects business relationships and other people form perceptions based on that appearance. The person’s face is what the other person sees first. First impressions go a long way in influencing the business relationship. A healthy person will have a winning smile. That smile can tell the other person a great deal. He or she may not be clearly understood if there are dental health issues that may affect his or her speech. In this presentation, Dr. Andrew Howard will discuss how facial appearance affects business relationships. His presentation will touch upon how dental issues not only affect the individual’s physical health but also influence business relationships. Millions of Americans experience an impact to their professional life in one way or another due to dental health issues. They often cannot function because they are in pain, they may cancel meetings, they will not act like themselves during business meetings, etc. Routine preventive dental treatment can lead to healthier people who take fewer sick days. Dr. Howard will also elaborate on how the health of the individual’s mouth is related to overall health. Poor dental health can lead to various diseases and conditions including: Heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, low birth weight, and others. Additionally, he will speak about how gum disease contributes to these conditions. Dr. Howard will also provide some tips on how we can keep our mouths and bodies healthy. Dr. Andrew L. Howard received his B.A. in psychology from Muhlenberg College and his D.M.D from Temple University School of Dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at The Medical College of Pennsylvania. For over twenty-years, Dr. Howard has practiced family, cosmetic, and implant dentistry in Morristown, NJ. He is the former membership chairman for the Tri-County Dental Society, a member of the Apex Seminars Study Group, and an instructor at the Morris County School of Technology. He lectures regularly to community groups about the connections between oral health and systemic diseases as well as the challenges and solutions of aging and oral health.
