> Speakers
Whitney Mak will be speaking on Maintaining a 9 Years Old Mobile Game with over 1 Million Players.
Using the well-known Words With Friends as our example, we will discuss how we have continued to build out our social game for a million daily players even after all these years, and the various tech changes this game has gone through with regards to scalability, maintainability, and keeping it up-to-date.

Roma Shah will be speaking on Code it. Ship it. Own it. On-Call a Catalyst for Agility.
In this presentation I walk the audience through my hands-on-experience, on how having all of your development teams on-call for the software that they create, builds normally unexplored autonomy, collaboration, commitment and agility. At PagerDuty, the same teams write the code, deploy the code and wake up to take responsibility for that code that they put out into the universe. From this talk the audience will learn why this works for our teams at PagerDuty, how it makes them better, how to adopt this culture and the benefits you can see by implementing similar practices in your organizations.

> Goals

ExploreTech Toronto is about exploring and celebrating diversity in the tech industry - in the technology we use, the roles and people. You will get a chance to hear from a variety of speakers who are working on interesting technical projects.

Our focus is in creating technical speaking opportunities for new speakers in Toronto’s technology community and to help achieve true gender balance within our local tech leadership. Our events will showcase at least 50% female speakers.

Come join us for some food, mingling & listen to some interesting talks!

[We run events focused on learning, sharing and growing in tech and want to create a comfortable environment for our members. As such, we ask that recruiters respect our members and our venue sponsors.]
