What we're about

On foot, on bike, by sea...we reach all corners of this wonderful county!

Who We Are
This is a group for anyone* interested in making new friends and discovering what Cornwall has to offer, including hidden coves/secret beaches; live music; pubs with character; water sports and activities; interesting walks; arts and culture; food and festivals; and anything else.

(*Families, children are of course welcome but some long walks might not be suitable for younger children so please check with the organiser if you are bringing children under 12 to any meetup).

Who Comes to the Events?
This group seems to attract people who love the great outdoors, enjoy exploring, and like tasty food in interesting corners of the county.

As you will all agree Cornwall is a great county, and isn't it more fun if you explore with a group, make new connections or just simply enjoy the presence of other company, even if you prefer to walk alone.

Let's look forward to another year of celebrating Kernow!

When Do the Events take place?
At the moment we are able to organise them during the week and weekends.

Upcoming events (5+)

(2.00pm) Afternoon Trelissick Circular with/without Dog! (No Charlie)

PLEASE START IF CHARLIE HASNT ARRIVED TO LEAD WALK. SHE ISNT HERE EVERY WEEK. Come and join in, it's an opportunity to keep fit, chat, make friends, and stretch the legs. And of course explore some of this beautiful county! There are some wonderful nooks and crannies in Cornwall so if you are curious like me you will certainly enjoy, and most walks involve a cup of tea in a nice cafe. Please bring thermos if you want to have a cuppa on route, and a snack. There will also be a chance of a cuppa at the end. Meeting Place: Outside Trelissick Toilets! Parking: Trelissick Gardens (there is a parking fee, but if you are looking for free parking there is a lay-by just on the left before Trelissick entrance, and its a 10 min walk along the road to Trelissick from there) Timings: The full walk will be approx 1.5 hours and then tea after The Route: 'The Woodland Loop' with views of the estuary for those who want to stretch legs and take dog/or no dog for a walk. Followed by a quick cuppa before the cafe closes. The daffodils should be appearing so a feel of Spring in the air. See you there! Below is some of the boring but important info! Weather In the event of heavy rain its unlikely walks will happen so please see the website a few hours before the walk for an update in comments section, if it is cancelled. If there is drizzle, it's likely walks will take place. Just dress wisely with woolies/waterproof walking boots and a raincoat! £1 meetup: To ensure we can continue the walks we appreciate £1 contribution per person per walk for meetup costs x

FRIDAY NIGHT -FA CUP - Arsenal vs Man Utd on BBC1 watch at Laurence's place.

Watch FA Cup fourth round, Arsenal Vs Manchester Utd, live on BBC1 on Laurence's big TV on Friday night. I am going to watch it anyway, but it will be much nicer watching it with company. I have plenty of free wine and a few small bottles of lager. Bring your own snacks. There are a few house rules; no drunks, no damage, no smoking, no talking over the telly when the match is on. (At least, no talking louder than me.) If you are coming, I will message you with my address in Redruth.

Afternoon walk Lelant Church to St Ives, visit the Tate and cake...

This will be a linear walk (travelling back by train), starting in Lelant and walking along the Porthkidney beach (as it will be low tide and dogs etc are allowed) rejoining the coastal path over Carbis Bay beach, along the woodland path to Porthminster Point, then over Porthminster Beach into the St Ives and the harbour. We will amble over to the Island and St Nicholas Chapel, then follow the SW Coastal Path around to Porthmeor Beach and the Tate. For those wishing a bit of cultural indulgence(?), the Tate is open until 4:20. If you haven't signed up for your Cornwall Residents Annual Locals Pass, this may be the time to do so. It costs £5, you'll need proof of address to purchase it. This entitles you to free entry to the Tate St Ives for a year.... otherwise, cake and drinks at the Cafe overlooking Porthmeor Beach. The walking distance is just under 5 miles and we will be out for about 4 hours. Parking and meeting at St Uny Church, Lelant (there is no charge to park here) and to round off the day, returning by train to Lelant Station on one of the most beautiful train journeys in the UK. It will cost £3, take about 10 mins and Lelant Saltings Station is a short walk (1 mile) from the Church car park. The post code is TR26 3DY, any probs with your Sat Nav, search for St Uny Church, Lelant. There is also additional parking beside the road for several cars and we will meet at the entrance to the Church, at the top of the small car park. If you are coming by car and don't mind offering a lift share, please message on here. This is mostly easy walking but with occasional shortish steep bits. Please bring appropriate footware and clothing. Thanks.
