Touring Favorite Neighborhoods: Hamilton Heights, Sugar Hill and Audubon Park

This virtual tour kicks off a series in which I will feature a narrated slide show about some of my favorite NYC neighborhoods.

What are my criteria for a favorite neighborhood? Beautiful architecture, interesting history, diversity of culture and access to green space and parks.

This is the area of Upper Manhattan where I live and I love sharing the highlights which include: the magnificent City College campus; the historic homes and mansions; apartment buildings were famous people lived such as Duke Ellington and Ralph Ellison; community gardens; access to the Hudson riverfront; and interesting streetscapes and views.

In addition, these neighborhoods feature the Audubon Mural Project which is a joint initiative between the Audubon Society and local artists to paint murals of all the bird species whose existence is threatened due to climate change. I will showcase some of the 117 murals that have been painted so far.

Area covered: West 138th - 160th Streets in Manhattan.

You do not need a zoom account or a password (embedded in link). Note that if you try to enter the meeting through your own zoom a password will be required. Only members who have RSVP'd as "going" will see the link.

Computers work better than ipads and smart phones for this type of meeting but you can use either.

Please "arrive" a little early in case there are any technical difficulties or if you have yet to experience a zoom meeting. Please be on time as Zoom has installed additional security features so you if you are late you may not be allowed in.

You will have the option of seeing fellow members and being seen by others. You can mute or unmute yourself and can enable gallery view to see your fellow members on your screen.
