We should meet in the Food Lion Car Park off North Main Street, Blacksburg at 10 am for the hour drive to the Tower. Car Pool if necessary, the parking at the bottom of the mountain isn't big. There is a steep almost 1 mile hike to the tower but i've known folks in their 80's to do it. Bring food and water and good hiking shoes/boots. stop along the way up to photograph the rocks and vegetation. The tower is the site for Fall raptor migration counts and has been for many years.

The web site for the tower is http://www.hangingrocktower.org which will tell you about the tower and it's present day use. There is also weather conditions on the home page. This is a fair weather shoot, hiking up the mountain in the rain isn't fun and in the snow it's downright slippery.
