Flames of Memory nighttime illumination at D-Day Memorial (Sunday Dec 11)

  • National D-Day Memorial

3 Overlord Cir, Bedford, VA (map)

    37.328564 -79.537148

  • The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford will be having their annual nighttime luminaries event December 9, 10 & 11 (this is a free event). This is a great event to see and photograph with the thousands of luminaries. As this will be at night you will want to bring a tripod to get those great shots. There will be two meetups for this event, Saturday and Sunday night. If you can't make those but can on Friday, please feel free to attend and share your photos with us. You can learn more about this event here: https://www.dday.org/flames-of-memory/70-default/72-general/146-flames-of-memory-and-christmas-in-wartime-presentation.html

Soon as I post something about the weather being nice the forecast changes! Keep an eye on the weather forecast for early Sunday evening as there is a good chance for rain now starting about 6. I will leave this meetup active but if the weather does change to rain, don't feel obligated to go. Don't forget that this event is also going on Friday and Saturday night if you can make those nights.

The weather is looking good for this event. It will be cold so make sure that you dress warmly and comfortably. The memorial area is pretty big and there is a lot to see so plan on walking quite a bit. With our shooting at night a tripod is highly recommended for this event.

I will not be at the Sunday meetup but Mike Yeats will be there to help anyone with camera questions. Looking forward to seeing your photos!
