Re: [FAIR-HILL-MD-NATURE-PHOTOGRAPHY-meetup-group] Membership Dues

Hello photographers, I joined this on March 09 just after Kenng started it.  I admit I've only attended 4 meetups, I did attend the First cook out at Ken's house and felt welcome and had a great time.  I hate to see this happen after the hard work put into this group.  To drink or not to drink, its a personal decision.  Should the dues be used to buy beer, or soda should be up to the group.  Lets all get along.  Take care to all.

Just my $0.02.  The meetups I've gone too have never been about beer / drinking.  Some people like to meet after a meetup to chat and socialize - some drink beer, some soda, some don't join in after at all.  It's the one things that made being part of the group even more of a pleasure - the fact that the group was friendly and more than just throwing a group of strangers at a location.

Did I like the idea of $25 instead of $10?  Not really but I'm a cheap bastard who can't make many of the special events and am an oddity in that I don't willingly rent/sell my children into servitude for a new lens.  :-)   But I also know that if $10 was all I could afford that I wouldn't be made to feel any less a part of this group because of it.

I've spent $10 on a group where I got nothing in return and this isn't one of them.

So people, please take a step back and a deep breath.

I personally think a two level membership would be great - a cheap bastard level and a show me the bling level.  Cheap bastards pay for the specials they go for where the blings don't.  I'd be just fine with that myself.
