Sunday Morning Sitting

Sunday Morning Sitting

Details

Start your Sunday morning out mindfully. At 10 AM a Timekeeper will lead us in 5 minutes of opening chants (chant books provided). Then the Timekeeper will lead us in 20-minute sitting sessions alternating with 10-minute walking meditation sessions. We will start closing chants at around 11:45. We entice you to stick around for social time afterwards by offering tea, coffee, and cookies.

New to meditation or could use a refresher? Arrive at 10 for a free brief meditation introduction. Afterwards you'll be invited to join the rest of the meditators in the main shrine room.

Two hours a little too long? That's ok. You may come and go as you wish between 10 and 12 - you are not obligated to stay for the entire time.

Chanting a little weird for you? You can time your arrival and departure to avoid the chants - we won't mind!

Can't sit on a cushion? You're not the only one. We provide ample chairs in the shrine room as well as different types of cushions and benches so you can find what works for your body. The Buddha himself realized that physical discomfort is not conducive to meditation.

FREE Sunday parking in the Laporte & Mason parking garage.

No need to RSVP for any of our public sittings - just show up!
