DECEMBER AGENDA - FM16 FEATURES TO LOVE AND USE
Perform Script on Server - Vince Menanno/Beezwax, Todd Geist/Geist interactive, Mark Kimbrell/Alchemy consulting group
PSOS or POS? A panel discussion on the ins and outs of PSOS. Vince, Todd and Mark will be contributing, and of course group input is vital. Vince says: Perform Script on Server (PSoS) has been one of my favorite features since it got introduced in FileMaker 13. We have been using it successfully in many solutions. I’ll show a simple logging mechanism that we use to monitor how many concurrent PSoS sessions we might have running at any one time. I’ll also share a technique to prevent too many concurrent PSoS sessions from stacking up. And we’ll share some other creative things you can do with PSoS.
For those inclined to do some homework before the meeting, here are some blog posts Vince wrote on the topic of PSoS
We’ve got the Creeping CRUD: FileMaker Data API Basics - Dave Boruff/web database designs
Our own RevDave will go over the basics of using the FileMaker Data API on the web. He’ll show some web pages that perform the following functions: C.R.U.D., Create - Read - Update & Delete with the FMS Data API and Filemaker Server, the basic building blocks of database interactivity. He’ll also show some simple tips and easy ways to get started setting this up.
Extending the Data API: Web Data Connector Integration with Tableau - Vince Menanno/beeswax
Some of us may have seen the Tableau session at DevCon this year, and wondered, “whoa, how does that happen?” Vince will share what beeswax has been doing with Tableau in terms of building fully-integrated and interactive dashboards within FileMaker.
Here are some related blog posts Vince wrote describing these techniques integrating FileMaker and Tableau:

Bresee Youth Foundation184 S. Bimini PlaceLos Angeles, CA 90004We meet in the multipurpose room.
Bresee is near the corner of 3rd Street & Vermont, in Koreatown/Central Los Angeles. If you're at the corner of 3rd Street & Vermont, just go North on Vermont, then take a right on 2nd Street. The first street you come to is Bimini Place. It's on the corner of 2nd & Bimini Place.
The FMDiSC board is very proud of our group! Our new donation policy has proven quite successful. We're getting record donations made to Bresee at a time when they are most needed. Again, we ask a minimum donation to Bresee of $10 per meeting for each attendee. New members are exempt at their first meeting (we call this a free demo in the software world).
We will continue to operate under the honor system, so please keep track if you pay in advance. In addition to cash, Bresee can accept checks made payable to the Bresee Youth Foundation, and can process credit card charges. They will happily provide tax receipts for your deductible donation. Bresee has been gracious enough to allow us to meet at their facility for FREE since December 2002. They provide invaluable social services to the community, and we encourage everyone to give generously for their mission and for their generosity toward FMDiSC. With the increased revenue from this recommended donation, we will be funding breakfast from the donations each month, and passing the rest along to Bresee. We will continue to ask for volunteers to pick up the food & drink. If willing volunteers for food pickup are not forthcoming, breakfast will be cancelled and Bresee will get more money!
