Welcome to Facial Palsy Support Group - Glasgow This volunteer group is part of Facial Palsy UK (http://www.facialpalsy.org.uk), The main charity supporting patients who suffer from facial palsy in the United Kingdom.
The group is set to bring us together, whether you are a patient who suffer from facial palsy or other conditions that result in distorted facial aesthetics and function, a friend or family member of affected individuals or a lovely person who likes to socialize and make new friends, we’d love to have you on board.
Main theme would be regular meet-ups at quiet cafes in Glasgow every 2-3 weeks. It would be a great chance to socialise and make new friends, exchanges insights and experiences, talk about passions, careers and general interests.
What is it about We are hoping to exploit this modern platform to provide all sort of support for patients with facial paralysis
* Chance for patients to meet other fellow patients and learn from personal experiences, treatment received, difficulties and coping mechanisms * Encourage self-expression and the discussions of concerns * Source of information about available resources, support * Learn more about patient needs - Patient Voice * Socialize and make new friends
This group is for everyone A platform for other caring individuals to play an active role in supporting/understanding this condition
We are flexible We are open to plan other activities such as local trips to museums, cinema, hiking, music events.. etc once like-minded people join us.
While we are an independent volunteer support group, NHS health care providers voluntarily support our group. Occasionally there would be guests from different disciplines which include: * Mr Stephen Morley, Consultant Plastic Surgeon * Psychologists, psychiatrists * Physiotherapist * Specialist Nurses * Plastic surgery trainees
Further more, it is possible to arrange formal meetings through the NHS when there is a necessity.
