The mission of Faith Tapestry Community Church is to "be a multicultural gathering of LGBTQ+ seekers, woven together by faith and Love." Back in 2015, when the only predominantly LGBTQ+ church in the New Haven area closed, the Reverend Dr. Daniel Rodriguez Schlorff founded a small group of LGBTQ+ Christians, with robust co-leadership from a ministry student at Hartford Seminary. A small group began to meet monthly for Sunday evening worship, and then gradually, we added a monthly MeetUp to study the Bible. Now worshiping more regularly on Sunday mornings, and with new seekers grafted in with the original flock from the church that closed, the Core Team (Board of Directors) felt led by God to find a network of support for the growing church. They re-cast the church's vision during the COVID-19 quarantine of 2020. By getting clear about who we need to be now, it became obvious that we needed to partner with the Alliance of Baptists for that system of mutual support. Faith Tapestry Community Church has also voted to apply for membership with the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.
