What we're about
Family members, friends , any other loved one or caregiver of persons living with mental health issues will form a peer support group. The meetings will consist of a teaching part and a sharing part. Members will be free to share as much or as little as they want. The teachings will be done by psychologists and counsellors and will cover topics like "How do I deal with guilt and feelings of guilt?", "Self care or care for the caregiver", "Anger", "The brain and mental illness", "Boundaries" etc.
This group exists to provide English-speaking support for people who have family members struggling with mental health issues. This group is hosted by the Methodist International Church Hong Kong (‘MIC’), and as such carries with it a Christian worldview - however - as a community ministry it is open to - and welcoming of - people of all faiths. Members joining this group do so with the understanding that we will be an interfaith group and will show tolerance of various faith perspectives and refrain from proselytizing. It is our hope that members will experience care from one another through peer support outside of scheduled group time, and when here at MIC find this to be a place of trust, respect, and rest.
