Marketers at small companies are often expected to wear a lot of different hats. Between social media, creative strategy, web, and other duties as assigned, the plate is often more than a full time job. Dirk Monson shares his successes, lessons learned, and methods for getting through the day when the marketing department is just a single person.

Dirk is the Member Support Manager for Red River Communications, a telecommunications cooperative located in Abercrombie, ND.

Before joining Red River Communications, Dirk worked as a strategist and solutions architect for various technology and marketing companies representing regional and multi-national brands such as Bobcat and Motorola.

He is tasked with leading marketing, customer service, and sales functions for the nearly 4,000 rural members that the cooperative serves. Most recently, he spearheaded the rollout of their FiberFAST gigabit internet product, which included a rebrand of the cooperative and its customer experience.

When he’s not helping connect rural North Dakota, Dirk and his wife (Jessie) operate an alpaca ranch called Ten Seven Acres in Galchutt, ND. Dirk also actively consults on marketing technology related topics for local businesses such as Boulger Funeral Home and Goldmark Property Management.

Dirk’s talk will begin around 5:30. All meetups are free.
