Bike Care and Cleaning Clinic

Fitness Central

Monthly Bike Care Clinic at 9:30 am

** Kindly note there needs to be a minimum of two (2) non-host attendees for the clinic to be held. RSVP closes the Wednesday before the clinic.

Bikes need to be cared for. The drivetrain is the heart and soul of your bicycle. A healthy drivetrain will work better and last longer. The drivetrain is composed of the chain, cassette or freewheel, crankset, and derailleurs. It is important for any bike owner to know how to properly clean and lubricate this system and know what to look for when inspecting it.

Come to the Bike Care Clinic and learn all this valuable information.

Attendees will be educated on the Appropriate products to purchased for their cycling needs.

At this clinic you will learn:

• Identifying parts of the drivetrain and functions of those parts

• Tools, lubricants and degreasers

• How to inspect the drivetrain for wear

• Removal of the chain & cassette

• What to lubricate and what not to

You will probably get more information than you need but you will walk away knowing the right way to care for your bike and what products are needed to maintain it.

Mostly Mellow Mountain Bike Ride

Jordan Creek Disc Golf Course and Recreational Park

Wednesday Night Mostly Mellow Mountain Bike Ride @ Jordan Creek Parkway.

Jordan Creek Parkway is a multi-use suburban county park which is situated along the Jordan Creek in Whitehall and South Whitehall Township in Lehigh County, PA. There are about 12 miles of single track and double track multi-use trails suitable for mountain biking which are mostly easy to intermediate. And, you are usually never more than a mile from the parking lot!

This is a TRUE Mountain Bike Ride, NOT a Rail Trail Ride. There are rocks, roots, occasional short, steep climbs and descents, narrow single track trails and sometimes mud and slippery conditions.

Typically we'll play for approximately 2 hours depending upon conditions. Rain or unsuitable trail conditions (too much mud, flooding, etc.) will cancel. Check back here by 4 pm day of the ride for notes/cancellation.

Social pace and will re-group often. Suitable for recreational mountain bikers with adequate fitness level or intermediate riders looking for a chill recovery ride.

Note to Newer Mountain Bikers: Our rides are co-ed and we welcome newer mountain bikers with basic mountain biking skills and decent fitness level to ride with us. Not sure if our group is right for you? Come check us out and see for yourself. We never judge and will even accompany you back to the parking lot if you decide it's not for you.

You need a mountain bike (hard tail, full suspension,[masked], plus, fat and e-Mountain) in good working condition, spare tube for your bike, hydration/fuel for you, mask for social distancing emergencies and helmets are required. Early and late in the season lights are also a good idea as it may be dark before we ride back to the parking lot. Bring your good attitude and be prepared to have some fun playing in the woods on your mountain bike!

Not sure your bike is in good working condition or suitable for mountain biking or if you have the right gear check out Fitness Central Bike Shop in Schnecksville, PA for assistance.

COVID-19 NOTE: If you are sick or in quarantine for the 'Rona, please don't come.

Liability Note: You will be asked to sign a waiver to participate in our rides.
