What we're about

This is a group for professional women who love to travel and who are looking for travel companions with similar interests. We will be meeting for brunch, lunch, dinner or cocktails to get to know each other, discuss our travel interests, and exchange information, with the goal of developing a circle of friends to travel with.

This group will be most suitable for women who are well-established in their careers and professions, or are retired, and who have the time and means to travel. Members should be currently single but no one will be asked to leave if they marry! Members should be interested in exploring the world, and should also be interested in art, antiques, history, culture, politics, civics and, of course, good food. There will be some beach/relaxing trips, including cruises, but most will be aimed at exploring and experiencing other cultures.

We all like a good bargain, so if a member spots an exceptional value and shares it, that can become a trip, but the focus of the group is not cheap travel. We are looking for quality trips at a good price. Trips will be planned with value in mind, but the group is not be considered "budget travel" group. Since we are all volunteers, once a trip has been planned and completed it would be very rare for it to be repeated. So if you are interested, sign up early.

Members are encouraged to suggest and host Meetups, such as a lunch in a restaurant near your home or office. Members are also strongly encouraged to suggest trips, with some detail. I am always happy to discuss potential trips, but you must be willing to take the lead in organizing it.

Because this group is dedicated to forming personal relationships and friendships, a reasonably recent photograph of you (not your new puppy or your favorite shoes) is required within 30 days of becoming a member. You must also live or work in DE, DC, MD or VA.

Comments and suggestions are welcome. We look forward to meeting you!

While our HQ is temporarily closed, we’ll be hosting a Virtual Explorer Trivia Night where you can take part in the fun — and get a little smarter, too — no matter where you are in the world! Hear stories from two National Geographic Explorers: photographer, writer, and filmmaker Ami Vitale and Rue Mapp, founder and CEO of Outdoor Afro, a nonprofit and social community reconnecting the Black community with natural spaces through outdoor recreational activities. Answer Nat Geo-inspired questions alongside Ami and Rue for a chance to prove your geo-smarts. The event will be approximately 45 minutes long, comprising two rounds of questions based on Ami and Rue’s work. Play individually or with your family and friends at home. You can keep track of your score as a solo competitor or with family and friends to see if you're smarter than a National Geographic Explorer. This event is free, but registration is required to participate.
