What we're about

We have frequent results-focused meetups (https://www.meetup.com/Federal-Big-Data-Working-Group/) that provide opportunities for a broad community of participants to focus on big data products for the Federal Big Data Initiative:

• Federal: Supports the Federal Big Data Initiative (http://semanticommunity.info/A_NITRD_Dashboard/Making_the_Most_of_Big_Data), but not endorsed by the Federal Government or its Agencies;

• Big Data: Supports the Federal Digital Government Strategy (http://semanticommunity.info/AOL_Government/Building_a_Digital_Government) which is "treating all content as data", so big data = all your content;

• Working Group: Data Science Teams composed of Federal Government and Non-Federal Government experts producing big data products; and

• Meetup: The world's largest network of local groups (https://www.meetup.com/about/) to revitalize local community and help people around the world self-organize like MOOCs (Massive Open On-line Classes) being considered by the White House (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2013/12/18/pcast-considers-massive-open-online-courses-moocs-and-related-technologies-higher-ed).

The Federal Big Data Working Group Meetup (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/Federal_Big_Data_Working_Group_Meetup) is also about helping government agencies develop:

• People – Data Scientists/Chief Data Officers

• Process – Data Infrastructure

• Products – Data Publications

Some examples:

• EPA (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/Data_Science_for_EPA_EnviroAtlas)

• FDA (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/Data_Science_for_OpenFDA)

• NOAA (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/Data_Science_for_the_NOAA_Chief_Data_Officer)

• HHS (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/Data_Science_for_the_HHS_IDEA_LAB)

• USDA (http://semanticommunity.info/Data_Science/USDA_Data_Science_MOOC)

• Eastern Foundry (http://www.eastern-foundry.com/)

And provide MOOCs/Meetups for training and networking.

Edge Analytics - Identify Anomalies in Real Time

Network event

Online event

Must register at this link.

Edge analytics continues to gain traction for addressing a wide range of use cases. Among the most common are fast anomaly detection and error classification enabling immediate action on a particular problem.
Join us for this session on how to maximize the value of real-time edge analytics using technologies such as sound wave recognition, data streaming, machine learning, and AI. We will show how to train and execute an AI model that mimics an expert human in identifying device issues by listening to machine sounds. We will cover, in detail, how TIBCO technology, with the power of open source developments, can deliver end-to-end edge analytics solutions.
You will learn:

  • How to use Project AIR from TIBCO LABS as an edge analytics platform
  • How to incorporate sound wave analysis for real-time anomaly detection
  • How to use Project AIR to deploy and manage machine learning models for real-time analytics

Sign up today! We hope to see you soon.

Powering ESG with IoT

Network event

Online event

Must register at this link.

Environment, social, and corporate governance (ESG) is driving both consumer and enterprise behavior. Business leaders are including these factors in their daily decision-making processes and technology selections, and consumers are evaluating companies based on published sustainability commitments, ethical operations, and social practices.

To strengthen ESG capabilities, many organizations are turning to IoT because of its ability to enable new measurement points, improve monitoring, and reduce decision latency. When augmented with advanced analytics, IoT can provide the digital intelligence layer needed for successful ESG programs.

Join this session to hear how IoT is enriching enterprise ESG capabilities and performance. IoT and sustainability are natural partners, with huge potential for the future.
