This is a group for anyone interested in federal contracting, data engineering, software development and database design and engineering. The DATA Act and the White House Open Government technology platform is legislation that introduced the general public to tremendous opportunities to explore application development on a grand scale. If you are interested in next generation application development utilizing the Open Government platform, then this group will help you bridge that understanding. You can find more information about our group at www.FedDataEngineers.org (http://www.feddataengineers.org/)
The Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act (including the OPEN Government Data Act) created new data governance dynamics within agencies by requiring agencies to designate the Statistical Officials, the Evaluation Officers, and the Chief Data Officers. These three officials are responsible for the best practices that support the maturity of an agency’s use of data. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) built a data-centric culture and is working to expand the use of data stewardship across the agency. From rule making to the establishment of monitoring systems and processes, data from a variety of sources must be acquired, managed, and governed from a variety of institutions and agencies. The Department of Education is an example of an agency actively coordinating across data activities to improve government programs and policies.
This webinar will discuss the key ingredients required to optimize data maturity within an organization and hear firsthand from the Department of Education leaders about their journey.
