At "Fit Hike and Run," we'll vary the location and routine, but typically we'll hike roughly 6 miles and every 1/2 mile we'll run/jog for about 30 seconds and then do bodyweight exercises like planks. After each hike, we'll return to the starting point & members have the option to stick around afterward for some stretches and additional exercises -- including some fun group exercises.
We exercise outside because it's healthier & to enjoy the beauty of nature and wildlife. Most of our hike-runs follow the pulchritudinous Potomac River, either south on the (asphalt) Mt. Vernon Trail where we can gawk at Washington, DC's monuments, or north along the storied (dirt) C&O Canal Towpath.

******Before we schedule our next "real-time" Meetup, I challenge all members to a 31-day challenge starting March 1, 2019. (Just in time for spring!) Pick your own REALISTIC challenge based on your goals, fitness level, health (make sure your doc okays it!), time, etc. I will do 100 push-ups each day. That sounds like a lot but it's not too hard if you spread them throughout the day. Then, so I can see my success at a glance -- and to keep myself from cheating -- I track them on my old-fashioned paper calendar and color in each successful day with yellow highlighter. By the end of the month, it should be completely colored in bright yellow!
******What's your challenge? 50 push-ups a day? 25 Situps? Planks? Walking 3 miles? Run a mile or more daily? You can get some ideas from these web sites below.
******READY TO GO? RSVP YES and then share your progress, challenges, encouragement, etc. to motivate each other!
