Digital Photography Bootcamp is just what it sounds like, a lot of hard work, a lot of learning and plenty of laughs along the way. Please arrive for the class a little early (doors open at 8:30 AM) because we start promptly at 9 AM and we have loads of material to cover. So much in fact, that we're afraid your brains will hurt or worse your heads will explode at the end of the day. So to alleviate that concern, we email all students a link to download all the class material including, Power Point presentations, several ebooks and a bunch of other cool stuff.

This class is designed for the first time digital SLR owner or Point-N-Shoot user. Even if you've had a film class, this class is a good refresher on photo theory and practice. So, if you’ve received a camera as a gift or just want to get more out of your camera, this is the class for you. Students will learn the basics of digital camera operation. Topics include Exposure, Lighting, Flash Photography, Composition, Camera Controls, Equipment, Filters, and Lenses. Camera features and menu functions are covered in depth. Basic photographic techniques and skills are discussed, enabling the student to get the most out their camera. Use of Photoshop Elements and inkjet printing is also discussed. So, bring your digital camera and owner's manual and get on the road to better picture making and printing.
Following the classroom portion is the Composition in the Field component (fieldtrip) 3:00 to 6:00 at a nearby park. Composition in the Field allows the student to apply all the classroom theory in a real world environment. Students get to practice the "rule of thirds," framing, "shoot high and shoot low," and many other guidelines to achieve better composition.
After the Bootcamp a special photo gallery/album is created just for the students and they are encouraged to post some of their best shots from the field trip. After a week or so the instructor will give feedback and advice on what the student is doing well and how they can maybe improve their shots.
We save the best for last, we'll almost last and that's our FCCP Education Guarantee. It simple:
Florida Center for Creative Photography students may repeat their paid class, workshop or bootcamp for FREE as many times as necessary to insure that they have completely learned the material presented by the instructor. If you find a better guarantee from any other educational source in the Tampa Bay area, we'll pay for your registration.
Lunch is around noon, and is only 30 to 45 minutes. There are several nearby restaurants, but you are urged to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks. Limited power outlets are available in the classroom and computers are not required to take the class. If you do bring a computer it is recommended to bring a power strip as well. Note taking helps many students retain what they are learning, but is not required. Most of the class material is available on the DVD distributed at the end of the class. Note taking material is not provided or available in the classroom.
