Health & Safety Policy from Zoo Tampa Lowry Park

Our goal is to provide our community a safe and fun open air environment where you can come connect with each other and experience amazing wildlife. Here are a few key things to know before arriving:

ZooTampa is principally an outdoor fresh-air experience; therefore, when outside on zoo grounds, guests who maintain proper social distancing are not required to wear face masks.

Enhanced signage is placed, and safety hosts redeployed with a supply of free masks, at entrances to major indoor facilities to courteously encourage guests to wear masks at our indoor venues, which includes retail shops, restrooms, restaurants and Manatee Mangrove.

Masks are strongly recommended for those not fully vaccinated during the Expedition Wild Africa Safari Ride & while in the ride's queue line.

Guests and employees are advised to practice physical distancing by standing at least six feet away from other individuals not traveling with them while moving around the Zoo.

While still open for your enjoyment, some animal habitats may have temporary extended barriers to ensure a 6 foot distance between guests and certain species.

Low temperatures and low humidity makes photographing zoo animals enjoyable for both photographer and animals. This creates ideal conditions for photographing the animals as they'll be more active in the cooler weather. It's also easier on the photographer when compared to temps in the upper 80's and 100% humidity.

Most of these photos were taken with a 300mm lens on a monopod. Don't have a monopod, then use your tripod. There are no issues using tripods at Lowry Park Zoo! Lenses 200mm and up are great for photography at the zoo. Even if you don't have a tripod or monopod you can still get great photos handholding your camera and Jeff will help with the settings.

We'll start right when the zoo opens at 9:30 AM. The crowds are smaller and the morning light is ideal for photographing many of animals (tigers, some monkeys, birds etc.).

If you need to purchase a ticket or Zooper pass, please arrive a little early so you can enter the zoo when they open the gate. Parking at Lowry Park Zoo is FREE! Link to purchase admission ticket or Zooper Pass (best deal if you plan on returning in 2020).

An optional lunch will be around 11:30 at the Safari Cafeteria. They serve a variety of hot and cold meals including wraps, sandwiches, tacos, nachos, pizza by the slice and much more. There are also picnic grounds adjacent to the parking lots if you desire to bring your own lunch.
