Do It Yourself (DIY) - This is an unofficial event, posted simply to give you ideas/locations to practice photography on your own. There is no designated FCCP Organizer, thus no pre-determined meet area or person in charge. If you wish to meet up with fellow FCCP members, feel free to use the event comments area to coordinate among yourselves. If there is enough interest or if a FCCP Org decides to lead, then the event will become official! Have fun, be safe, and remember to share your photos!

The Florida Botanical Gardens inspires and educates visitors by showcasing flora, fauna and natural resources in motivational surroundings that promote environmentally friendly techniques. This Largo destination offers more than 30 acres of cultivated gardens and 90 acres of natural landscapes. It is free to the public every day and is a popular destination for photographers, residents and visitors who discover tranquility in the heart of Largo.

The butterfly garden has been completely redone and expanded. Many of the other gardens have been enhanced as well and the grounds are in the best condition I've seen in 8 to 10 years. Here is a list of some of the plants (http://www.flbg.org/whatblooming/march_april_may.htm) that should be in bloom.

I recommend a tripod for best results. I'll be happy to help with settings, lens choice etc.

After the event, please remember to share!! Several hours after the start of the event, a link to the FCCP Photo Gallery Album will be automatically created. Please remember to upload some of your best images to the gallery and share them with our other members.

Practice culling, by loading only a handful of your top photos on this page.

** Note: If the event has DIY in the title, it doesn't have an official organizer! No matter who is listed as an Org or Event Host. These events have no coordination between the group and any entrance fees or arrangements.

My Recommended Retailers

Where you buy your gear matters. You expect to get what you ordered and you want to pay a low price for it. The retailers I recommend below are the ones I trust for my own purchases.

B & H Photo and Video ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/buy/Great-Deals/ci/16478/N/4280521071?BI=4308&KW=&KBID=4736 )

Bringing you the activities and this site is now a full time job (typically 60-80 hours per week). Thus, I depend on membership fees and on the commissions received from you using the links on this site to make any purchases. My family and I are grateful for your support! - Jeff
