Ten Writing Traps and How to Keep Out of Them

Details

The Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of Sisters in Crime is pleased to announce the featured speaker at the March 2022 meeting will be James Hanna.

James Hanna, award-winning author and creator of the loved and reviled character Pomeroy and the somewhat hapless yet endearing Gertie McDowell, will share his wisdom on the writing traps that most commonly plague authors.

In addition, he will share his method of submitting short stories to journals and magazines and include his favorite publications.

James Hanna wandered Australia for seven years before settling on a career in criminal justice. He spent twenty years as a counselor in the Indiana Department of Correction and another fourteen years as a San Francisco probation officer. Due to his background, the criminal element appears in much of his writing. James’ stories have been published in over thirty journals and have received three Pushcart nominations. His recent book, The Ping-Pong Champion of Chinatown, won the Gold Medal-Global Award. His books, all award winners are available on Amazon.

This event will be held Barbara S. Ponce Pinellas Park Library, 7770 52nd St N, Pinellas Park, FL. This event is a hybrid in-person and Zoom meeting. There will be a member lunch following the meeting
