Camping/Scouting The Oclawaha River

Details

Saturday morning: we will leave camp EARLY (9 am) to do the Ocklawaha River. It's nearly a ten mile trip, with light current on a twisty, narrow river with excellent scenery. This requires us to do a shuttle from the put-in at Ray's Wayside Park to the take-out at Gores Landing.

We'll be primitive camping at Gores Landing Park. They have restrooms and non potable water. No reservations need to be done, availability of campsites is on a first come first served basis. Payments are based on the Honor System (there are envelopes at the entrance of the park where you deposit the camping fees), so......please bring cash.

Bring the usual: camping gear, lots of water, snacks, food, at least one bundle of firewood, bug repellent, sunscreen and the spirit of your choice.

Stuff I will bring for sharing: propane stove, a grill, charcoal, propane and utensils.

I will be arriving around midnight on Friday.

There are no outfitters at the ramp, so if you don't have your own boat, you can use one of ours. Our boats are $40 for singles, $50 for tandems, to cover loading and hauling expenses. Due to problems that we've had in the past, you MUST pay for your boat in advance via PayPal to Armando Castro (hikerc24@gmail.com). Your boat is not guaranteed until payment is received. If you don't have a PayPal account, contact me directly and something can be worked out. The refund policy: no refunds after the boats are loaded on the vehicles at home.

My Cell: 954 826 5883, text me if you have any questions.
