1800 Wekiwa Cir, Apopka, FL
Meet at Wekiwa Springs State Park Summer Camp and get to know your fellow FTA members, with guests always welcome (tell the ranger at the entrance gate you are attending the Florida Trail meeting; admission is free). This month's program: Our own Sandy Walters will present her book, "The Story of Thornby: How Ordinary People Took on Government", about the eight year struggle to save a local landmark and its surrounding wetlands. It includes history, politics, and nature and serves as an example of how a grassroots effort can preserve some of Old Florida. The meeting will begin at 6:30 with a social period followed by short announcements at 7:00 pm.
Snack foods and beverages are appreciated. Don't forget to bring your aluminum cans for recycling and a flashlight for finding your car after dark!
As always, the public is invited.
