I was born in Manhattan but grew up in Sonoma County as the second of seven kids. We had a large yard and grew fruits and vegetables. All of us played music and the memories of practicing Bach in the summer under our apple tree still feeds my love of classical music. In my last semester at Cal, I took a student run class about organic gardening and worked hours in the campus organic garden. It got me thinking about differet ways to bring the country to the city; I'm currently reading "The Essential Urban Farmer" and am looking for all sorts of ways to get involved in urban farming. I also took a nutrition class and was shocked to learn about the poor quality of food accessible to low income, urban populations. I think that focusing on food; its production, distribution, and preparation is one of the keys to helping people be happier and healthier and our world better. It sounds naive, but intense hopefulness combined with rigorous intellectual discipline is what I like to practice :)
I'm a recent graduate of Cal living in Berkeley. I work for a women's leadership startup here in Berkeley and am the lead violist of the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra. I love working out, music, food, and trying to understand how the world works.
