JavaScript developers and framework authors have converged on a certain set of practices and ideas over time. We will discuss how concepts such as pure functions, compile-time type checking, centralized state, and immutable data structures help improve code quality and maintainability regardless of the language or framework in use. We will explore this convergence and will be introduced to Elm, a young programming language, that exemplifies some of these practices and ideas. The final goal will be to have everyone share experiences and war stories for techniques they've used to help improve their code.
