Write yourself into a corner: Preventing bugs with lots of data types

Details

Description
Apps don't deal with Strings and Ints and Hashes, they deal with data likeEmails, GPS Coords, and Preferences.

Just because a programming language comes with primitive data types doesn't mean you're limited to them.

By defining the domain of the data your application really uses and expects, and validating it early, invalid states and difficult bugs can be avoided.

Presented by Chris Schneider.

Note
As Fort Collins Coders gets up running again, we'll be experimenting with locations and dates to see what works best for the group. Space is limited at Cohere; if you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP accordingly so others may join.

Thanks to Cohere for hosting us, and TEKsystems for providing food and beverages!
