CITY OF THIEVES, by David Benioff is January book of the month.

Love historical fiction, & picked this noveI because I thought it would captivate you too, with its tale of friendship, courage & survival. It’s tension, war & famine in 1942 Soviet Union, & the Nazis have laid brutal siege to Leningrad. Lev has been arrested for looting & thrown into a cell with deserter Kolya. Both, instead of execution, are given a chance of saving their lives by taking on an almost impossible mission to secure a dozen eggs for a Soviet Colonel & his daughter’s wedding cake. So, Lev & Kolya embark on their egg hunt across the lawless city, & landscape of death, which is thrilling & terrifying, yet insightful & funny. You are welcome to come along & join me for an evening of friendly socialising, interesting discussion, picking up on various themes, me going off on weird tangents & throwing in a quiz (maybe) to keep you on your on your toes! Plus drinkies & yummy snacks are available. ‘ура тебе,’ & ‘новым годом.’ See you there, my fellow book worms. PLEASE NOTE, our central Folkestone book club meet up location is revealed to current members only, & changes monthly. Simply RSVP & make request to become a member.
