What we're about

This is a group for anyone interested in hiking. The idea is not to make it a big sport event. Sorry, you won't find here bungee jumping, rock climbing or other adrenaline-packed things. It's more about enjoy nature, have a wine/beer or two and make some new friends. So a typical trip would be a two-hour hike to a beer garden and then two-hours back. Looking forward to explore the beauty of Frankfurt's nature with everybody.

Season goodbye hike through the vineyards and palaces of the Rheingau

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof platform 23

Important: read *all* of the description, especially the sections regarding Covid-19! The new partial lockdown starts next Monday, a last opportunity to do a *safe* hike before that. We start in Oestrich-Winkel and hike to beautiful Vollrads palace with a tower in a lake in the middle of vineyards. Our next stop is another palace, Johannisberg, a famous vinery with a great view over the Rheingau. Then we hike to monastery St. Hildegard. Finally we reach the Niederwalddenkmal with a spectacular view on the Rheingau. Breaks at every sightseeing point will be around 20 minutes. We meet in Fra Hbf at 9:35 at the beginning of platform 23 for RB 10 departing at 9:53. We will buy Hessentickets, which are 36 € for up to 5 persons. The plan for return is to take the connection at 16:53. The distance is ca. 15 km. Take beverages & food for the way with you. You find the route and elevation in the photos section. It is no round-trip. Persons who ignore the rules reducing the risk of an infection -- in general, not just at the hike --, who think Covid-19 is not a serious disease and/or it is a conspiracy to install a "health dictatorship" or similar, are *not welcome*. If you want to participate you agree to obey to the following rules: You are not in quarantine or have reason to believe or symptoms that indicate Covid-19. No hugs, handshakes, ... that would break the necessary distance during the whole event. You wear masks in public transport and whenever the organizer deems necessary. You send me your full name, address and mobile phone number after signing up via Meetup message (required by decree, persons where I have all this data don't have to do that). Because of the situation everyone will be on the waiting list first. Persons that participate(d) at parties in private or public places 10 days before the hike cannot participate. Persons that have the free Corona Warn App (https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-de/themen/corona-warn-app/corona-warn-app-englisch) installed will be preferred at the selection from the waiting list. Everyone on the waiting list sends me a Meetup message with the following content: "I have read the full description of the event >Season goodbye hike< and accept all terms of participation" followed by "yes" or "no" whether (s)he has the Corona Warn App installed at the meeting at the train station at the latest. Persons that answer "yes" have to show the running app then. Failure to send the declaration within one hour after signing up will lead to an exclusion from the event. Persons that have not sent me the full contact information yet also have to include this. Disclaimer: The weather forecast is mostly sunny, be prepared for changing conditions. It is an outdoor activity and I can only estimate when we reach the destination. There will be photos taken by the organizer (and probably others) at nice spots. GDPR clause: By participating you agree to be on group and other photos and videos where you are not the main motive.
