</2018> Computing Power For ML / Deciding On Behalf of CFO / Entity Recognition
Hooray Folks, We are coming to an end of the year and this is last meetup for this year, we did a great journey together in 2018 with many great speakers on the stage and cool talks. Thanks everyone! This evening we have three self-made expert speakers coming from Carrollton/Texas, Kaiserslautern and Munich with super exciting talks covering hands-on and business topics: boosting computer power for ML algos, quantifying decision-making and learning how to transform your models into a production web service. + Something SPECIAL ;) PROGRAM 1830 Doors open/socialising 1900 Talks start 2100 Socialising 2230 End snacks & beer reserved Lightning Talk #1: INVESTMENT OPTIMIZATION – DATA DRIVEN DECISION MAKING MEETS FINANCIAL DECISION MAKING Natalie Kortum, Decision Sciences Leader, will be sharing her experience with a question she tries to answer everyday: Why is it that there is data driven decision making at granular levels, but when it comes time to the CFO’s most important decisions - what projects to fund for the next year, data driven organizations fall back on old methods of politics and intuition? She has implemented projects on behalf of CFOs who have broken into creating their own decision model and will showcase some of these projects. LinkedIn| Talk #2: ENTITY RECOGNITION GOES PRODUCTION In his talk, Michael Gorkow will demonstrate how to put trained models made with Keras, spaCy for Entity Recognition into production. He will dive into how he developed a small web-service using Flask, a micro web framework and showcase different ways of accessing it. That’s something curious to look at. Michael Gorkow is a Data Science Consultant working at SAS. Besides his work Michael is currently writing his Master paper on textual analytics, if there are fans of text out there, feel free to approach. LinkeIn|[masked] @GorkowMichael Talk #3: UTILIZING COMPUTING POWER FOR MACHINE LEARNING AND DATA ANALYTICS Janis Keuper will give a talk reflecting the past, present and future impact of available computing power on ML and data analytics algorithms and applications. Focusing on the software stack, he invites everyone to put heads together and talk about challenges and practical solutions towards high performance tools for large scale applications. Janis Keuper is heading the "Large Scale Machine Learning" Group at the Fraunhofer Competence Center High Performance Computing and is a Principal Investigator at the Fraunhofer Center Machine Learning. @JanisKeuper SUPPORTERS: Thanks to our supporters SAS and STATWORX and our kind hosts Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
