What we're about

Welcome to the Frederick Chess Club! We are a United States Chess Federation sanctioned club looking to draw together those who have an interest in the royal game. We host both informal games and formal tournaments, and are looking to grow and share our chess experience. We meet for informal games every Wednesday evening from 5:00PM to close at The Frederick Coffee Company & Cafe, 100 N East St in Frederick.

On the first Saturday of every month we host a formal 4 round Swiss style tournament with G30/D5 time controls that is USCF rated at Elks Club Lodge #684 on 289 Willowdale Drive in Frederick. Come join us!

On the third Saturday of every month we host a formal 10 round Swiss style blitz tournament with G3/+2 time controls. These games will only effect your USCF Blitz rating and will take place at the Elks Club Lodge #684 on 289 Willowdale Drive in Frederickk.

We can provide a limited amount of equipment. While we are primarily an adult club, children are welcome at all Frederick Chess Club Sponsored events. We take competitive chess seriously; it is expected that all players will exhibit good sportsmanship and respect not only for their opponents, but for the other competitors in the gaming hall as well. Parents are expected to lead by example in this regard. While we do not currently run scholastic tournaments, we do adhere to the USCF’s spectator policy for scholastic events.
