We're partnering with Cowork Frederick to host a monthly weekend game development workshop!
Bring your game development projects and work in a supportive environment -- and maybe even find some collaborators!
Our first workshop also takes place during the beginning of the 14th annual "7 Day Roguelike Challenge." In honor of this event, and to help anyone who wants to participate in it, one of our hosts, Adam Silcott, will lead a workshop on Saturday at 1:30 PM on how to make your own Roguelike game!
Classic roguelikes are a great place to learn game dev principles, since they are simple enough to create even as a beginner, and there are lots of useful tools to help make them. If you want to participate in the Roguelike workshop, please bring your own laptop or desktop computer. We'll be using a popular Python library, with Adam leading a follow-along guide to setting everything up. Some people will also be working in Unity, so we'll have some resources for that as well.
If you'd like a head start we'll be using this tutorial for python:
And this for Unity:
Feel free to come and work on your own project, or to meet and talk with fellow game developers, artists, and musicians!
