Fredericksburg Writers Community
***NEW LOCATION*** Bring your stories. Tell them to us. • What to bring A pen and a piece of paper for the flash fiction and flash doodle exercises, and up to five pages of your own writing to read out loud and for us to critique. If you'd like to tell a story instead of read one you've written, you've got five minutes.

    What we're about

Hi! My name's Robert and I am the hypocrite-dictator of Fredericksburg Writers Community. We're a useless, floating civil society group dedicated to narrative and our ability to tell and manipulate the strange thing called a story. We meet at a different time and place every week. We're mainly focused on reading our writing out loud and refinement of our storytelling and artistic practices. This is a judgment-free, monopoly-free, shame-free, rating-free, instruction-free, dogma-free and vengeance-free zone where we care about your work and want to help you with it however we can, with only a little bit of business.

So please bring your critiques, your ideas, your writing, your pictures, your ego, your drawings, your baggage, your life, your dilemmas, your support, your voice, your friends and yourself. Tell us the metanarrative you're caught up in, tell us your life story, show us your comic book, tell us your goals, say a poem, and we'll listen.

The rules: bring something to share to take more than what you need. 5 pages maximum, 5 minutes per spoken story. If you don't bring anything, I provide a flash fiction and drawing prompt we all do together and which you are required to do if you're there with us anyway. But if you only do the assigned work, you can only take what you need. I'll see you there!
