What we're about

This is a networking group for professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and academics in the field of geomatics. We meet at monthly socials in casual pub settings, and love to talk about GIS, surveying, and anything geospatial. These are free events with no formal structure. Come out for some free appetizers, have some drinks, meet new people, keep in touch with existing contacts, mingle, and have fun. You never know who might provide a new business opportunity or a job possibility!

Our monthly socials run from September to May, but there is always the opportunity to post more events during the summer as long as we can generate the interest.

Join in with our discussion and planning, and keep in touch! We use our Discussions page to stimulate discussion on organizing, technical issues, and anything else GIS related!

How to Apply for Geospatial Jobs with the Federal Government of Canada

Andrew Davidson, a scientist with the Canadian Government, will talk about his experiences negotiating the minefield that can be the Government hiring process, and the things you need to do when applying for that Government job. Have you ever applied for a job with the Government of Canada and wondered why you weren't considered for future selection? Applying for Government jobs is tricky, and rarely, if ever, does a rejected candidate receive feedback on why their application was rejected. However, if you understand how selection processes work, and what hiring managers are looking for in an application, you stand a much better chance of finding success. We will also explore future competencies and geomatics skills that you should acquire for the those future jobs. Please register using on of our GoGeomatics online Meetup groups or using Eventbrite. This is a free event but space is limited.
