This meetup evolved from Focus Tai Chi's weekly Kung Fu & Tai Chi in the Park events, where several students had commented on improvements in their health and quality of life after practicing qigong. Focus Tai Chi and the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine have combined resources to offer the community these free classes.

Qigong, pronounced chee-gong, is the practice of ancient Chinese breath and energy exercises.  It is a huge field and comprises both moving and static exercises. Western science is increasingly showing qigong to be a powerful ally in improving one's health and its applications are endless.

Qigong requires no special clothing, accommodations, or apparatus. Qigong will teach you how to breath in a healthier manner, to benefit your entire body and its organs. You can perform the exercises in a small space, in comfortable clothing.

The exercises taught are very simple and require no previous knowledge.  Benefits include lowered hypertension and decreasing stress. Qigong also helps with weight loss, back pain, arthritis, insomnia, and other chronic problems.

If you ever wondered what the "miracle of qigong" was all about and wanted to find out more about the ancient Chinese healing arts, you owe it to yourself to check out this class!

We hope to see you there!
