In this class we will learn a famous qigong (pronounced chee-gong)set of exercises called Ba Duan Jin, sometimes also called the Eight Brocades.
Qigong is the ancient Chinese practice of breath and energy, or qi (chee) exercises. It is a huge field and includes both moving and static exercises. The exercises are very simple and require no previous knowledge or special clothing, accommodations, or apparatus. You can perform the exercises in a small space, standing or seated, in comfortable clothing.
This workshop will briefly cover the history of qigong and show you how to breath in a healthier manner, to benefit your entire body and its organs. There are many levels of qigong and regular practice has been shown to be life transforming!
The benefits of regular qigong practice include lowered hypertension and decreasing stress. It also helps with weight loss, back and knee pain, arthritis, insomnia, immune and gastrointestinal disorders, and other chronic problems. Both the Mayo Clinic and Harvard Medical School are now recommending it for stress relief and chronic health issues.
The Ba Duan Jin set taught in this class is specifically designed to increase your overall health with eight simple exercises that take only a few minutes to do each day.
